Morrissey Media

I was going to try sharemusic for this, but there's no point as one person on there asked me who Morrissey was as a good 70% of them only ever request James Blunt.

So does anybody have Morrissey's Redondo Beach version of There Is A Light That Never Goes Out?

Thanks so much - do let me know if there's something you'd like in return, and I'll see if I have it.

(Dear Moderators. I'm sorry if this isn't valid, I've searched every music shop I know trying to find it and all they bloody well have are scratched old Meat Is Murder LPs.)

Has someone been reading musicsecret? I recall it being mentioned there very recently.
Assuming I've been listening to the right thing, namely the recording to be found on the "Live At Earls Court" CD (which is the one that has just been posted, unless I'm very deaf and it just happens to be remarkably similar and have a "Thank you!" in the very same instant), I don't see what's so particularly great about it compared to other versions of the song, nor why it is called the "Redondo Beach" version as it isn't exactly mashed up with "Redondo Beach", which is a few tracks earlier on the album already. They've been released as a double A-side single, but ... why is that track a "Redondo Beach" version? I don't get it. Unless it is in fact a different version that is the actual "Redondo Beach" version, where it's really a combination of both (à la "Marie's The Name/Rusholme Ruffians" on the Smiths' "Rank", morphing into one another). In which case I demand to hear it. Now.

^ yes it's just because it's a double a-side w/Redondo Beach on the single. i don't think that version of There Is a Light is so good either, ditto that particular performance of Redondo Beach [i did get to see it live and it was massive; too bad about the disc]. oh well, the single is so worth if for the sleeve with Morrissey next to Johnny Thunders' guitar.

xo, math+
